Applicant with British nationality, wishing to be Au Pair abroad

If you are thinking of becoming an Au Pair overseas, you can register with a selection of BAPAA members, offering programmes such as Au Pair in Europe, USA, Canada or Australia.

Why not take a gap year and live with a family in one of our exciting destinations? Soak up the sun in LA or shop in NY at weekends; it will be a year to remember and you do not even need to speak another language. You will make friends from all over the world and your common language will always be English; you can help other Au Pairs to perfect their language skills in the process!

Or why not travel to a European destination for a year, skiing in the Alps or a chic city home in Paris? Although a foreign language at the start is a benefit, many of our overseas families would be able to support you with limited language skills and you will learn quickly once you are a member of the family. Usually host families in Europe are keen for their children to improve their English in the process also.

For registration, contact any BAPAA agency offering “Outbound” services.

Applicant with European nationality, already in UK

If you are thinking of becoming an Au Pair and you are already in the UK, you may register with any of the BAPAA Agencies on the website. Agencies will ask you to supply references, a medical report and a police check.

If you are already in the UK as Au Pair, you may be able to use forms from your initial placement. Please note that future host families will usually wish to speak to your current host family, so please ensure you handle your move correctly or agencies may not be able to assist.

An interview will be arranged, either in person or over the telephone and then you will be introduced to potential host families in your area.

For registration, contact any BAPAA agency.

Applicant with European nationality, in own country

If you are thinking of becoming an Au Pair in Britain and you are in your own country at the moment, please check first if there is a reputable au pair agency in your own country where you can register. A reputable agency is usually a member of IAPA , the International Au Pair Association, if they send candidates overseas.

Follow this link to the International Au Pair Association website to find out if there is an agency in your country http://www.iapa.org/our-members

If there is no IAPA Agency in your country;
For registration, contact any BAPAA agency

All registration forms are likely to be in English!
